Hair Restoration Texas
Texas Hair Restoration Overview:
Hair loss is a psychologically and emotionally disturbing phenomenon that unfortunately is progressive in nature. Dr. Lam, Hair Transplant Surgeon in Dallas, Texas, is dedicated to managing hair loss through effective medical solutions and performing sophisticated hair restoration that is uniquely different from other hair transplant and plastic surgeons in Dallas, Texas and elsewhere in the United States, as will be explained.
How does modern Hair Transplant work? Hair taken from the back of the head, which is not genetically programmed for loss even in the baldest individual, is transplanted to the front and top of the head where hair loss predominates. This transplanted hair maintains the characteristics of the donor hair from the back in that it will not be lost in the future after the transplant. That is, the results of hair transplant are permanent.
Pain-Free Hair Restoration Experience – Your experience in Hair Restoration/Hair Transplantation in Dallas, Texas will be completely different from anywhere you may have had or thought to have it done. With a full, 5,000 square foot surgery center on site, Dr. Lam is able to provide gentle intravenous (IV) sedation so that you do not feel the initial discomfort during the injection process. Instead of just taking a pill for pain in other “offices”, Dr. Lam is able to provide much more advanced care for the Hair Transplant patient. In addition, usage of a special fluid known as tumescence during the procedure greatly alleviates postoperative discomfort by protecting the precious nerve and blood supply. Doing so also greatly enhances the growth rate of transplanted hair. Giving you a light sedative can also make the 6 to 8 hour experience feel like half that time.
Customized Hair Restoration in Texas – In short, we are not a factory. Many hair transplant outfits perform 20 procedures a week. We perform only 2 to 3 a week. What is the difference? First, we only perform one procedure a day. That way we can achieve the best results for you without being rushed to get the next patient into the room. We also maintain a high level of quality control. By using only the same technicians every time, we can ensure that they will produce the same results every time. In fact, we never outsource our hair transplant team elsewhere and never bring in a hair transplant dissection team from another outfit. In addition, our hair transplant team in Dallas is able to recover from the previous day’s work so that they do not burn out from this tedious and repetitive labor. The other extreme is the plastic surgeons who claim they perform hair restoration but only do so once a month or worse once a year. That infrequency makes it impossible to maintain an experienced, dedicated and full-time staff for hair restoration.
Combination Grafting in Hair Transplant – Dr. Lam employs a specialized technique of using hair grafts that can be effectively distributed to increase hair density and provide wonderful hair-transplant results in a single session. By judiciously using only 1 to 2 hair follicular grafts in the hairline and crown and slightly larger grafts feathered behind this microscopic hairline zone, he can achieve both seamlessly natural results and unsurpassed hair density.
Corrective Hair Restoration in Texas – A good percentage of Dr. Lam’s hair transplant work is corrective in nature. There are many mistakes that one can make during a hair transplant. It all begins with an artistic eye. Dr. Lam, an artist himself, designs beautiful hairlines that match your age, ethnicity, gender, facial shape, and type of hair loss. This careful undertaking requires both artistry and technical skill. The reason a hairline can look dreadfully unnatural is that it has been created too low, too straight, too wide or with grafts that are unacceptable for the hairline: damaged during insertion, placed too deeply to the surrounding scalp, too large for the hairline or that have bad graft-to-site fit.
Excellent hair restoration can be likened to manufacturing a car. The entire race team has to be equally adept as the surgeon to make the endeavor an absolute success. Dr. Lam’s hair transplant dissection team has been working with him exclusively for many years, and his hair-transplant coordinator is both a physician from another country and an experienced national educator herself. What Dr. Lam brings to the table is a meticulous and gentle harvest of your hair for transplantation along with a specialized type of closure called a trichophytic closure that can be hard to detect even at close range. Also, all of his recipient sites (that accommodate the dissected hair grafts) are undertaken precisely to match the natural hair angles that exist in a scalp and to maximize the shingle effect that can increase visual hair density after transplantation.
Medical Solutions for Hair Restoration and Hair Loss
Currently, there are only two FDA-approved medications for hair loss: finasteride (Propecia) and minoxidil (Rogaine), the former is for men only and the latter is for both sexes. Finasteride is taken as a pill once a day and can help regrow hair and stabilize further hair loss, especially in the crown region, over a period of 4 to 6 months and thereafter. Finasteride should not be taken by women of child-bearing age who can bear a fetus with a birth defect (male genatalia). This will not happen if the man takes the medication. Minoxidil comes in two strengths 2% (for women) and 5% (for men) and is a topical liquid to be applied twice daily to the affected areas of hair loss also to retard hair loss and hopefully regrow some lost hair. Both medications can be important in an overall regimen to slow down the loss of non-transplanted hair and thereby delay the time needed to undergo another hair transplant session. Remember the transplanted hair is permanent unlike the sensitized non-transplanted hair.
